Under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy [v1], if we resolve a dispute in the buyer's favour, we may:
- remove funds from the seller's PayPal account to reimburse the buyer for the costs of both the item and original postage fee. This is in accordance with the seller's authorisation provided to us under the new User Agreement [v2] ; or,
- where there are insufficient funds in the seller's PayPal account or where PayPal is not the reimbursement method of the seller, directly refund the buyer for the cost of the item and the original postage cost. In this case, the seller must reimburse us in full in a timely manner for an amount equivalent to the sum we paid to the buyer.

Please, why don't you help yourself to my money

Ebay/paypal is truely awesomely epic as a dishonest buyer, its just a way of getting loads of free stuff.
Im never going to sell anything of value on there though, fuck that, they really do have carte blanche to help themselves to the proceeds of the sale!

The last thing I sold on there went for about £110 or so. By the time I added up special delivery (so not to get the old 'I didnt turn up' bollocks), listing fees, final fees and paypal fees, it was knocking on £40
Would have rather given it away to a mate.

Would have rather given it away to a mate.
Now imagine doing the same thing and then getting the 110 taken back off you!
Result : you got the item stolen and end up 70 quid out of pocket.

any of you had this happen ?????????????
forget to pay for listing fees or somthing and not have a credit card directly linked to ebay ?????????????????
i did and had some fuckin annoying cockney chick phoning up asking for me, i thought it was a fan or advertising and then the fookers sent a letter threatening baliffs.
at that point i knew the dozy cow was ebay staff phoning up for the coin, why she didn't just say oy mate its ebay cough up or were comming for you,it was only say a tenner.
it makes you think though that if you sell somthing for a nice amount of money and they cough up ebays money you are well fucked.
i see it time and time again though, cash on collection. no fucking around with comebacks then if your brassed up in readies.
thats what i'll do in the future or ask for a cheque and wait until cleared.
so long as you can openly say no pay pal i'd rather do that.

eBay & Paypal are awful for sellers; they seem to have some very bizzare and unrealistic expectations, but I guess that's what you get with what is virtually a monopoly. Shame Google bottled out it and didn't carry on with Google Auctions, serious competition for eBay/Paypal is desperately needed.
If you actually read through the PayPal user agreement it asks that you waive statatory rights and also makes it impossible for a seller to comply with the polcies that are meant to protect them from buyer fraud.
Still if it makes you feel any better eBay/Paypal's profits were down $100 million in the last quarter!

Renton i have noticed somthing said along them very lines, how do you prevent that happening ?? just say collect only or how do you say on ebay with out a fook up cheque or postal orders then i'll deliver ???
The company you are talking about is called NCO. Despite their threats, they will never send anyone to collect anything.

i've got a few things i was thinking of selling on ebay, and i would put that it's a collection only item and a cash payment when collecting would be acceptable
if they pay by paypal i'll make sure to state that any payments via that method will just mean me holding onto the item for 7 days and then no refunds if they have not been collected
simples
I bought £3500 of bits from some1 in america, they didn't send it, I got £750 back from paypal. Need to ring the FSO about it really to see if theres anything i can do against him/paypa.

The problem when they do that, is if the buyer bought on their credit card they can just insist the credit card compny dont pay paypal and they end up out of pocket, so nowadays they seem to always side with the buyer as that way its not ebay/paypal who end up out of pocket its the seller!
they say that you have to have a reimbursement method in your account file.. don't put paypal or anything, just put 'home collection' they would have to come to your house, that would be fun.
everything is gonna end up with high postage costs cus I will now post everything special delivery so they have to sign for it in person. and i will say in my auction 'once item is sent the buyer and only the buyer must sign for the item and check it before the delivery man leaves or no refunds will be made.

the way around not takeing paypal is to state in the add that if you pay via paypal then you will be charged all fees (ie 60 pound on top) if you pay cash its the price you win it for
as for knocking ebays fee's, just change your address and phone number in your account, thay go chaceing that address, just do it a few weeks befor you knock them

I don't know you know, at the end of the day if its in writing in the auction what can they do. they are my seller demands. if they don't want to go by my rules then don't bid or suspend my ebay account.. Ebay has got to big for its boots, and sooner or later someone is going to take them to court over this reimbursement method. I think it should be down to a small claims court to decide who should be reimbursed, if the seller thinks something dodgy going on then he or she should have the right to refuse the reimbursement. ebay are not judge and jury. trouble is, i'd love to say sod ya then and end my account but where else can you auction things off to the whole world.
I believe that the ebay police will also pull your ad for that if they spot it, you arent allowed to charge a surcharge for people using paypal.

There is nothing when you bid on something on ebay to say:
"By entering this bid I agree to the terms stated in the advert by the seller"
So if you took them to court you might get somewhere, but a court would then have to decide if bidding on an item (which already has terms implied) constitutes the buyer signing up to demands within the auction or not, as like I have just mentioned, there is nothing on ebay that states that they agree to do so.
Possibly if you sent a message before shipping the item asking them to confirm that they are happy with those terms that they respond to it might have more chance of being legally binding.
fare enough, its changed a little since i bumped them, 10% fees soon add up and when you get raped form all angles its a joke, bump them and use gumtree (or start a second account just for buying)

well there you go.. thats rather unfortunate.. I only sell to people in this country.. one reason being if they did something like that to me for that sort of amount i'd be knocking on there door with a hammer in my hand. bit expensive going over to italy to do it... mind you did you not have postage insurance on it.. couldn't you claim via that to get your money

Also, I'd strongly advise against changing your address and telephone number (I assume you mean to false ones), eBay keep records for around three years so they will know the previous information you had with them, the times and dates you changed the information and the IP address information was changed from.
Further more by changing the information you will be commiting a criminal act, in this case fraud by false representation. Have a look at the 2006 Fraud Act (2) and you'll see what I mean.
Not really worth the bother to be honest, the easiest solution is to simply stop using eBay as a seller.
Just ignore them, they will go away eventually although it may take some time. Their contract is pretty much virtually unenforceable.
