Morning!
I'm preparing for a trip through Europe from Debrecen in Hungary, passing through, Austria, Germany and onto the Netherlands.
Obviously I'll be doing my research but when I'm driving through these countries is there anything I should be aware of?
For example I know I do need replacement bulbs, warning triangle and first aid kit for some countries but unsure of the exacts.
Obviously if anybody has experience of what I need that would save me alot of time in research
Cheers

Complete set of bulbs, hi vsi jacket for EVERY person in the car, triangle, fuel in a METAL container, E111, minimum amount of CASH when travelling through germany as they have vagrancy laws, headlight convertors, if not a EU plate symbol plate then a GB sticker, insurance cert and license would be a wise move, and also V5, as well.
Just be aware speed limits are a lot more enforced over there, radar detectors will get you arrested if you plant to come back through france.
If you were doing spain a bail bond would be essential as well.
There's probably more so I would search on AA RAC websites, as each country different.

im in mainland europe right now. a set of bulbs is good altho not essential nowerdays as every servos in europe will carry most types.
for france you need ONE hi vis vest for the driver and one hazard triange that you must be able to reach without getting out of the car, or you will get a 90 euro fine if they are in the boot for instance.
germany is not so strict however it is good if you have these items available, you will need your log book and id to prove the vehicle is yours if you get pulled up, but 9 times out of ten they will only be interested in your tyres.... as said above 3mm is min, also they will not let you carry on if you have any trye defects whatsoever.. so be reallly spot on with your pressures etc.. as a slighly flat tyre will warrent a pull by the german coppers.. all in all they are nice guys tho and all speak very good english.
italy is the place for evryone needing a hi vis vest. and there is a fine if you dont carry these for everone.
just rememeber to have them at hand all the time, ie door pocket or under the seat etc..
also you will need plenty of euros for the tolls and payage in france and germany. altho most of them will take a credit card...
good luck. and enjoy the roads...
but do makesure your near side mirror is very clean and you can see well as you will really need this in germany... the loonies come up on the outside like your standing still lol

For some countries you may also need a first aid kit (it's a good thing to have one anyway) and fire extiguisher. Fromt he countries you have mentioned you have to be carefull in Austria and very carefull with speed in the Netherlands. With Germany be carefull because you will find that traffic is VERY VERY slow in Britain when compared to Germany.

Winter tyres are obligatory in Germany when there is snow on the roads. Not sure about Austria and others, but anyways summer tyres + snow mean near 0 speed and that prevents any big travels.

Great advice, thankyou gents!!
I'll take it all on board and get it all sorted, I've had to delay the trip till next week now due to the Hungarian Police being a wee bit iffy with me.
Cheers again!

Yeh I'll take lots of photos, staying over in Innsbruck at Hilton and overnighting on the ferry from Rotterdam. Should be good fun.
Oh and I'm taking the mrs so I'll try and get some tit shots!
I'm really looking forward to it, I like a nice adventure.

Hey man there is a small nice club in innsbruck called the weekender, its run by a good friend of mine called Justin, if you go out then do pop in and say hi, he may even have his aero8 there, tell him big lee the sound engineer sent you.. he will look after you, hes a top chap and total petrol head. he is english.
no such thing as the E111 anymore, it's now the European Health Insurance Card. as worthwhile and necessary as it is, i would still have travel insurance.
european breakdown cover and recovery/repatriation would be worth having as well, particularly as you will be trying to cross some rather snowy parts with shitty british tyres on
