It's alright on your initial wash but it does strip wax faster than a decent shampoo.

Your better off using a quality shampoo through your foam gun, it will most likely come out slightly less foamy but the final results will be better.

Dont mean to sound stupid but what is a foam gun?
is thats what is needed to use these products, I have only ever done sponge bucket and polishes?

With reference to the foam gun:

You need a foam lance which fits onto your pressure washer. I.e Karcher, Kew, Alto etc. http://www.elitedetailer.com/cgi-bin...mrid=1&cmpid=2

You can get ones that fit your hose pipe too but you need strong pressure from your hose tap as well as it does not foam as well.

SSS shouldn't strip wax. it's designed not to. Traffic film removers that give a similar foamy appearance when put through a foam gun will however.

We have ran many many tests with the sss on various cars. Ranging from daily drivers, track day cars as well as garage queens. There is no doubt that the sss strips wax/sealants faster than a car that is foamed with a decent shampoo.
trust me, if sss was that good, we would be using it as it would work out a lot cheaper for us.

So how did you run the tests? just using sss and noting the amount of beading after each wash? just curious.

i only ever use sss on the pre wash through the foam gun and then follow up with something like pb super slick n suds or dodo btbm in the wash bucket. i don't find the sss slick enough in the wash bucket. other option for me through the foam gun is the megs hyper wash. but as you say is a fair bit more expensive than the sss.

 

snow foam is brilliant when used through the right foaming nozzle on your power washer.would seriously recommend this product

 

got some on its way and have a petrol power washer at work with different nozzles for spay patterns and pressure.

I have only just returned from working on this:



Beading is just part of the experiment. There are various high grade LSP's on the market which stop beading well after a month or so but are still providing adequate protection and gloss. All shampoo's cut into the LSP to a degree, even PH neutral ones. However the SSS is quite abit harsher.

The Hyper wash is better like you said. It doesn't work out that expensive with HW.

The PB shampoo mentioned above is nice, I used to use it a few years ago. Zaino Z7 is the king of shampoos though. You should give it a go, you will love it.

I also find that snowfoam strips all tire and trim dressing in one go, so if you have loads of plastics only foam if you plan on re-treating everything

Took me a while to figure that out, quite annoying considering all the plastics on my car, here is a pic of it in action

 

nice and foamy. not had any trouble with it stripping the protection from plastics before. which snow foam were you using?

 

I have been using Autoglym bumper care for all the plastics, not the best but not going to replace till its run out.

I use Clean Your Car snow foam, i normally add in some Chemical guys Maxi sudsII but i have tried with and without and it still strips the Bumper care off the plastics

 

i've had trouble in the past with the ag bumper care running even when it gets rained on. i don;t find it particularly durable. however it does give a nice finish until then. on product you may like to try is swissvax pneu. it's a bit more expensive than the ag but gives a cracking finish and if applied properly will last well.

 

You can apply the AG bumper care without streaking. You need to put multiple thin coats and it needs to dry out in between coats. Admittedly the snow foam isn't helping you.

On the subject of foam, below are a couple of cars thats been foamed with Zaino Z7.
Not overly foamy but easily good enough, more importantly not as harsh either.

i've never used the 303 aerospace on exterior trim before. always reserved it for dressing engine bays. what the durability like on the exterior?

foam from the z7 looks plenty. is that it topped up in the foam gun with warm water or just cold?

Try the 303 on trim. I get the best results from it. I used to use Pneu back in 05, its pretty good too.

Z7 topped with cold water and thats it.

You should just use Hyper Wash through it and throw your snow foam away.

 

that's pretty good then with the cold water. what ratio do you use it in?

have to get some more 303 and hyper as it goes. onto the last dregs in the bottom of both. as only detailing part time and with nothing booked in at the moment, i've got a while to get it in .

will keep the snow foam for the inlaws car. i spent 3 days on it when they got it (1.6 focus in panther black metalic) making sure it was spot on. then because they didn't want me to see it dirty they put it through a car wash . needless to say i'm not correcting the paint again. it can be foamed, 2 bucket wash, dry and a quick layer of poorboys qw+.

I have never had streaking with the AG bumper care just find the snowfoam gets rid of it.

Will have to just use up the snowfoam with APC mixed in for LSP removal on cars to be machined etc as i don't like to just bin anything if it can serve a different purpose

Still learning and testing products, well over £1k in less than a year but enjoying it and the responce from the owners makes it all worth while.

 

that's the tip of the iceberg on product testing. but in the end when you find what you're happy with it'll get easier / cheaper.

I've been detailing part time for the last couple of years. I'm still learning huge amounts. product developement and evolution is pretty big and can be costly to keep up with. one thing i find is if i buy a product and test it and don't get on with it after 1 or 2 applications you can sell them on. i know that this is a tad mad but you can regain some costs this way. also if you are looking to move into detailing full time one thing i'd say is when you find products you like, try to become and approved reseller. this way you can get the products in at trade price rather than having to shell out full price for them

 

Like i say, i've been into it for about a year.

I don't like to give up on products so keep trying them on different things

For example Megs #80 and #83 first time i used i thought what a load of rubbish but it was on a Audi with super hard paint but when used on Modern Ford paint i think it works very well.

Only things im thinking of selling is some of my waxes as got a few but want to try some higher priced stuff

On the other hand, i think the EZ detail brush is the best cleaning brush i have ever bought, lol
