i only ever use sss on the pre wash through the foam gun and then follow up with something like pb super slick n suds or dodo btbm in the wash bucket. i don't find the sss slick enough in the wash bucket. other option for me through the foam gun is the megs hyper wash. but as you say is a fair bit more expensive than the sss.

This is Gurcharn here, sorry I was not able to reply any sooner.
I have only just returned from working on this:
Beading is just part of the experiment. There are various high grade LSP's on the market which stop beading well after a month or so but are still providing adequate protection and gloss. All shampoo's cut into the LSP to a degree, even PH neutral ones. However the SSS is quite abit harsher.
The Hyper wash is better like you said. It doesn't work out that expensive with HW.
The PB shampoo mentioned above is nice, I used to use it a few years ago. Zaino Z7 is the king of shampoos though. You should give it a go, you will love it.
