I've gone from a 467 bhp Cossie to a 320 bhp Evo. Yes it is physically slower, but to me still feels very quick and laps Combe and the Ring at the same speed as my old Cossie - quicker in every way other than outright straightline speed.
I regret the loss of power, but am so happy with the rest of the package that the loss was worth it.
Get it up to 500 bhp plus then see what you think!

dan, this week i am mostly riding a honda blackbird
1/4 mile time is about 10.5 seconds apparently
not bad, considering you can pick them up for Ł3k

500 plus bhp MK2 Escort will make most things feel pretty boring tbh Steve..
don't forget aswell, a Evo 8 weighs around 1400kg, compare that to your MK2 aswell, what you need to do is go in a 500+ Evo 6 RS or summet...
Steven: you're on about the 430?
Had it for a day and wasn't impressed. The noise with Tubi-exhaust was insane, especially in race-mode but even though it was silly fast and feels like a proper racer, it's biggest flaw is that it feels like a proper racer! It feels safe and planted whilst my mere 180 BHP MkII would fry the soles of your shoes with the heat from the exhaust, the noise of the whining gearbox, intake and exhaust was deafening and it was very very nervous with shitbrakes.....LOVED IT!!!

As you know i had to sell my 8 MR cus of a family illness, we'd got the car on a FP Green turbo, forged engine, antilag etc and it dynod @ 443atf 446ft.lb.
Right, since i've had the saff back it feels ALOT quicker than the Evo did, it's near on 40 bhp up on the Evo atw though cus of the 4wd transmission losses and it's 200 or kg lighter.
Agreed yes, b roads it'd be struggling against the MR but my point is,Dingy needs a fairly big bhp Evo to compare to his MK 2...
Just my 2 peneth worth.........
