Default if a car`s for sale with no tax, can you go and drive it home

just wondered cos every car im looking at isnt pissing taxed,...

im thinking you aint allowed to drive it, you have to trailer it or recovery type truck...

anyone know...

I have driven quite a few cars with no tax that i have just bought but i always tax them the next day even got stoped by the police with my escort cos they just said get it taxed asap but i did have a reciept to say i just bought it

Its the same risk as driving your own car untaxed...

but its only £1000 fine and procecution...

i always drive un taxed cars with trade plates, if you got a mate with plates, ask if you can borrow them.

The police cannot do you for no tax now they can only report you and in 90% of cases if you back tax it you will be fine

hmmmmm just be my luck to get done.....and i dont have a drive or front garden so no off road parking, and neighbors grass people with no tax down my road..

depends how long the cars been untaxed but ive never had problems getting the owner to tax it on sale using his documents as my insurance docs wont have arrived yet.

worse case, big fine and the DVLA will clamp you. just done park up next to any DVLA vans and you'll be fine

eh !, i got done for no road tax in a van i had repainted and was bringing away, cagney and lacey in a big volvo did there checks and found i had insurance and let me go.
i still had a fine off the old bill then a month later one from the dvla.
