Default me and me mates all lost a tenner each at the gym today

was doing legs,,, well not heavy but stretching when we all got a bit childish like normal

our nemisis comes over for a piss take and a crack so i add the weights upto 370 to pretend im going for that,,,,

the personal trainer says i can lift that,,,, so I come out with BOLLOX shorty,,, i got 10 saying you cant,,,, 7 of us agree as hes about 75kilos maybe 85 TOPS,,,, ok hes also a boxer but thats skipping and shorts round the belly button

FUCKER MADE 70 QUID,,,,,, AND DONE 5 FUCKING REPS THE CUNT

ok they wasnt long ones,,, BUT I COULDNT LIFT THE FUCKING THING WITH PRESSING MY KNEES TO CHEAT

hes starting to anoy me now

not bad for him though,,,, 70 quid cash for 30 seconds,,,,, AS HE WAS REMINDING US AS WE LEFT THE GYM

cant even beat him up as hes a boxer too

proper bloke though and respect to him

Was that using a bollocks leg press or something i presume?

Start squatting - relies on the back and technique - anyone who says they can rep a weight - tell them it has to be legs to parallel (90 degree knees) usually sorts em out.

UL tho - cos that guy is obviously well strong

its the one that you add the plates on each side and the middle and push up

the fact he got it OFF the peg was impressive,,,,, him with hes arms behind hes head trying to look like hes relaxing was anoying

was worth the tenner,,,,, first time im been lost for words too

Never thought of just doing your workout etc and then going home ??

You can never under estimate anybody really with what they can do

Least you'd still be a tenner better off

how tall are you?
how tall is the boxer?

when i was doing this sort of stuff i could lift probably 55kgs, but my brother, who was 9 at the time, was lifting it with ease, mainly due to him only having to move it a total of about 6 inches as the rest was only 6 inches further down the machine that his little legs could reach

That is a tidy weight to be fair, I think I used to leg press about 300-350 max, and then me legs were all a quiver after a set of 10

thats a fair amount to lift, i dont understand peeps saying that aint heavy lol, when i used to work out alot, the thing that annoyed me the most was the big guys who would come in not warm up and do a few reps of the heavest wieght thinking they the man

lifting heavy wieghts isnt overally hard, lifting weights with proper form is

fair play to the guy

been itching to get back in the gym recently for some reason

The leg press is an easy machine to cheat at, personally I don`t like it or use it. Nothin like squats. There is fellas in the weights club I`m in that can squat 7 plates either side of the olympic bar. Thats 300kg and get 10 reps. Also saw them benching 5 plates either side of the olympic bar

its a definately respectable weight if he's doing it well. if hes short it does help though.
squats are a chunt. definately get in the habit of doing them. you will see your legs growing in only a few weeks!!

Squats to proper depth, deadlifts and bench so it touches your chest are the main exercises IMO.

Machines are just a bit of fun

to be able to say you can comfortably lift a weight on any machine 15 reps is a minimum, to just lift a weight off a peg and do 2 or 3 reps proves nothing

Why you would bet someone who obviously knows how much he can lift is beyond me.

Thats like me saying to a few guys, yeah I can do 105kg on the fly machine. Then them being daft enough to give me Ł70 for it

Ginge, can you get a piccy of the leg press machine in your gym. I think then we'd all be able to gauge how impressive it is......

Is it a straight up and down sled at 45deg or one like in the picture of me which moves in an arc and lifts the weight in a more vertical plane.

Not surprised Where I box, we did a fair bit of relative strength training. The idea with this is not to put weight on (fairly important to boxers!) but to improve how your body uses its existing motor units... this increases strength but keeps your natural weight. Ask the guy if he does this, it would explain his strength to size ratio.

Why is that shit. I think that is a perfectly true. If you are at your limit the dinky 1.25kgs can make a difference

People who don't think this makes a difference need a major reality check. Gaining strength isn't done in leaps and bounds, it's a slow process lifting progressively more weight. Of course you progress quicker when you first start out, but it's like car tuning. The further you go the harder it is to make the gains in performance.
