Default Anyone tell me how to put this end cap on my hub? (pic)

Replacing front wheel bearings on a Sapphire Cosworth 4x4.

Built the hub back up but it's the end cap that goes into the hub that I can't seem to push back in. Tried a punch but the metal is so fragile that it just marks and I have no bearing press. Any ideas? Thanks

Use a flat piece of metal resting, laid on, on edge of seal and tap all around lightly but continuously for a few years, takes about two mins that's all but just tap hard enough to move it about 1mm at a time.
It works perfect everytime just a little slow.

Thanks, do I use the flat piece of metal a bit like a I'd use a punch and just keep tapping it down?

I've ruined one cap already lol. I can't remember the cap being as tight as it is on this sierra, my last one literally fell out, should it be this much of a pain the arse to put back in?

Oh jesus, just what I need to hear lol, the job has been such a twat full stop up to now, I was on about 3 hrs removing the old races and bearings which had somehow 'welded' themselves to the spline.

It's maybe cause they've never been in done in 16 years lol

Can you tell me if this looks right lads?

Managed to get it in using the 2 old races on top of each other but I hope I put it in the right way round, the rubber seal sits proud of where the hole for the ABS sensor is, is that okay? Cheers

In your first picture the seal is the WRONG WAY UP, just imagine that you need the flat edge to tap onto, I lay a flat piece of bar on so bar of metal is HORIZONTAL, if you like so it could lay across seal, just rest on edge and tap.
Seal flat must face outwards.

Thanks, I put it in the other way round to what is shown in the first pic. In the second pic the seal is fitted but the rubber sits a bit proud of the ABS sensor hole.

Car is nearly back together now, so hopefully I've done it right! Thanks for all your help on this thread people
