In your first picture the seal is the WRONG WAY UP, just imagine that you need the flat edge to tap onto, I lay a flat piece of bar on so bar of metal is HORIZONTAL, if you like so it could lay across seal, just rest on edge and tap.
Seal flat must face outwards.

Thanks, I put it in the other way round to what is shown in the first pic. In the second pic the seal is fitted but the rubber sits a bit proud of the ABS sensor hole.
Car is nearly back together now, so hopefully I've done it right! Thanks for all your help on this thread people
