Default wheel clearance problem on full lock 3dr cos

My 3dr failed its MOT this week due to n/s/f wheel fouls the inner wing on full lock, the tyre rubs the metalwork near where the brake line goes through the inner wing. Its done this ever since i had a new rack fitted about 3 yrs ago but its never bothered me & its always passed before. Its fine on the o/s/f & the tracking is ok & about even threads showing on the track rod ends, its like it has slightly too much full lock when turning left. I run 7.5x 17 wheels with 215/40/17 but it used to do it with the original 3dr wheels aswell so its nothing to do with wheels. Is their supposed to be an end stop in the rack or something ? Anybody got any ideas how i can get round this as i've got a re test next Thursday. The car drives straight as anything & does'nt scrub tyres. I need to reduce the amount of lock on that side, how can i do that without getting a new rack !

Cheers Simon.

Simon is it deffo a 3dr rack you have as dependant on who o/hauled/supplied it it could be a saff one which does fit but has a bit more turning from lock to lock bit like the 4x4 saf and Escos ones they DO fit each other but some do come with this same problem!

Sounds like thats what my problem is,wrong rack, but it does'nt do it on the o/s/f. I'm thinking if i screw the n/s/f trackrod end onto the rack as far as it will go & do the same amount of adjustment on the o/s/f to lengthen o/s will it not shorten the lock slightly on the n/s & increase it on the o/s ?

Failing that i think i might have to take a sledgehammer to the inner wing

Tried fitting a 5mm wheel spacer but no difference still touches on full lock, i might get away with it if i fit 205/40/17 instead of 215 just for the MOT.

How would i limit the lock on the rack for the MOT ?

Default Rack limmiter

Had same problem, get some 4/5 mm thick plastic sheet and cut some shims with a hole saw. OD to fit in rack housing ID to clear rack, then cut section out so that you end up with a 'C' shape.
Undo Gaiter at opposite end to problem, slip 'C' over rack and push into housing!
Repeat until cured.

that isn't really a surprise is it?

don't know if you can buy them separately, but a jubilee clip will do the job
