Default escort mk 6 cab e/roof

hey just brought a mk6 escort ghie cab with electric roof but the roof aint moving. havent really had a proper look but the pump in the boot does make a noise when you push button. any ideas on what to look for??

check there is hydraulic fluid in the pump (it has a gauge on the side. Also checked that the tbar peice that sticks out of the pump is fully closed.

What also can happen is the hydraulic rams can come un bolted from the hood frame - this can damage the hood and frame badly so i would check that as well

Worse case senario would be the pump is knacked and thats mega bucks for a new one.

The pumps have a plastic cog in them that tends to break. In this case you can still hear it working but it won't do anything.

The Escort Cabriolet Club were selling rebuld kits for these pumps quite cheaply a while ago, - might be worth getting in touch with them.

Fingers crossed someone's left the bypass valve on the side open, but you'll be lucky...

woohoo thanks for replies guys, jus been working on it i checked the pump and there was no fluid but a lil bit around bottom of pump so im guessin it has a leak somewhere but filled it up and after a bit of wd40 around hinges she be working fine
