mate i did it myself, you can get alot of the parts from Ford still, and i spent ages prepping the body before painting it with 'detail grey' spray paint from www.frost.co.uk .

Well chuffed with how it came out

if you need any part numbers for the bits in the photo then by all means ask

I think that little lot in the pics came to about £40. My unit was working fine, but im going bufty so it had to look the part and also becuase of the way a standard breather operates, it pumps all the crap back into the metering unit, so i split it apart, cleaned all inside,(there was alot of crap in there) popped the fuel distributor off, replaced the seal, lubricated the pin that comes down from the fuel distributor, then popped it all back together with new bolts, banjo's etc.
If yours is faulty, then obviously it needs splitting apart anyway to find out why its faulty. The answer may be obvious like a broken spring, so you could then repair it yourself for a fairly cheap price i would say. They are very very simple inside
hope thats of some help, technically a rebuild more then reconditioned i suppose

thanks mate

yeah the flap in mine isint sitting rite up where it should its like a 2mm gap and when i touch the pedal it ties to cut out because the flap is then closing rite up and opening again.

think that could be a spring on whatever keeps it up where it should

Absolutely useless with the metering unit, that waht you see if only 1/3 of the job, the metering unit is what you need - these are the killer!!!

Ford won't do any work on the metering heads and there's only a handfull of Bosch-Service-Stations in Germany who dare to open them...
According to Bosch there's no way to repair them just send them in and get a nearly new one back. But this costs as much as a new one...

If you dare to open it yourself, you'll get all gaskets and other parts at a Bosch-Service-Station...

But it's better if you've got two ore more metering heads to open, because most of the people won't be able to put it together again

I've helped someone strip a metering head, they're not as bad inside as everyone makes out, and we got it back together.....

Did we fuck

As long as you don't adjust the 4 pressure regulating screws inside you can't really do a lot wrong.....

They should control the fuel amount for every cylinder, iirr the pressure is regulated by only one screw...
