Default Fitting sierra discs and calipers???? Confused

Hi there ive recently bought some calipers and 285mm discs off someone and he says they will fit straight on. Other people say i need some brackets and looking through a back issue ofperformance ford they say I need some longer 10mm bolts with 5 nuts on each to space the caliper out... Any help on helping me fit em is greatly appreciated.... Thanks Steve

4 Pot cossie calipers will go straight on, BUT you need 3-4mm machining off the mounting face...........

Thanks for all the advice people.. I bought them off e bay for £50 and the guy says they came straight of a mk4 escort turbo so im assuming they have been machined already??? How will I know if they havent? Also if I get the ford part number will somebody be able to tell me what pads I will need?

Thanks for everything this forum is superb......
