Default Car Cutting Out

Hi all,

Over the last two weeks i have noticed that my Y Reg 1.2 Fiesta Zetec S has cut out about 3 times. I start the car and drive off then when i get to a jct about 3 min from my house and stop for the lights i slow down put the clutch in and stop but the engine seems to just cut out slowley. Its not stalling as it comes to a smooth stop and sometimes i dont notice its cut out but it starts up again and drives fine for days with no issues.

Anyone suggest what it could be as its very strange.

Chris

Highly likely to be the idle control valve. Very common to fail. Try cleaning it with carb cleaner and if it doesn't sort it then replace.

Behind the top of the dipstick handle, 2 bolts and a wiring plug. Make sure the valve inside moves freely and when you refit it the gasket is located properly as even the tiniest air leak will cause all sorts of idle issues.

So its the silver looking part behind the yellow dipstick handle with 2 bolts on. Is it fixed on by only 2 bolts.

Is there anything i need to take note of before removing or be aware of anything or can it just be removed. Do i just get some carb cleaner spray and spray inside if it does not move.

Sorry if i sound stupid but if the car starts ok and idels after start fine with no random reving could it still be the idel control valve getting stuck.

So is the valve sticking open so its letting to much air in when i start and as my foot is not on the gas the engine is flooded with air so cuts out

Chris
