Default Will a 1600 Zetec fit in an XR2i (H reg).

I would like to fit a 1600 Zetec enigine from a Focus into my XR2i rally car. It would be easier for me if I could still use the present standard gearbox, is that possible?
If I have to fit the Zetec gearbox, will the driveshafts from the standard gearbox fit?

so you want to fit the Zetec SE engine with the front mounting inlet instead of the rear mounted inlet off the escort 1600's?

what age is the Xr2i as none of them came with a crossflow?

the answer is NO, well not a bolt in job. just buy a donor 1800 2i and put its all in the 1600. cheaper too!!

Sorry, my mistake, the car is an H reg XR2i which has had the injection removed and replaced by Webber 35's. It's not a crossflow....
I have been given an engine but I don't want to go to an 1800 because that would put me in the 2 litre class. Better to stay with a 1600. The present engine runs out of breath at about 100mph and would cost too much to get more bhp out of it.

focus 1.4/1.6 have inlet at front, exhaust at rear. costly job to get it in and running i'd have thought!

Just use the 1.6 ZETEC E from a Fiesta Si. It is not the best version of the eingine but on twin 40s will give 125 bhp.

Will it though? The Fiesta Si 1600 Zetec is about as much use as a boat anchor

Zetec-E (Fiesta MK3 and Escort 90-) will bolt straight in.

The Zetec-SE (Fiesta Sport, Focus) has got more potential on standard spec. When the 1600 is used for racing it will be tuned!? So do something to the E and it will work well...

There is no doubt the 1.6 ZETEC SE is better than the 1.6 ZETEC E. However the ZETEC E will be easier to fit. The 1.6 ZETEC E will give you 125 bhp with twin 40s or TBs with aftermarket management. More bhp is possible but at huge cost.

better staying with a 1600 cvh than a wanky 1.6 zetec e lump,

with there tiny valves there useless, unless you want to spend lots on gettign a big valve head,

i still reckon more power is possible from a 1600cvh
