Im looking at buying one for my 32nd birthday this week.
Now who owns what and what size memory are you using.

Oh god not one of these threads
I have a PS3 and my brother has a 360. Apparently the new consoles are coming out this year. I enjoy both consoles due to different reasons. The play station has a Internet browser, the online feature is free and not £40 a year. If you are into halo and other crap like that it's the Xbox. but if I was you I'd have a play with both and choose from there mate

Also if you knock an Xbox over when playing a game it's shags the disk, and you will need to buy it again. But a ps3. ( large one) is fine. Mine had had some right hammer and when mine wen dogged up I stripped it down, cleane it all and rebuilt it and it's been fine since
I have an original 60gb that had the laser replaced just after a year, but I did play a lot. Then it ever so nicely gained the YLoD and swallowed my Black Ops disc, so I took the cunt apart. Then bought a new slimline for half the price of the original
If you're going to be gaming, save your money and buy a PC.
£40+ a game for watered down graphics is a joke.

My mate is still on his original launch day 360 and when that starts reading a disc
Makes the shelves in his room shake! On topic, I have both and the ps3 is the dust collector really. If you like to play online I would go for the XBOX as its a paid for service. I live out in the sticks and I struggle to get online with my ps3.

I work in a console repair shop and we see alot more PS3's for repair than 360's just to contradict what everyone says. Also there are alot more faults with the PS3's that render them beyond repair. Also the slim's are prone to power pack failure and they are over £50 to change.
Also it is very easy to upgrade the HDD size on an xbox too just a simple format on your computer and put it into the caddy and away you go.
Oh and parts are cheaper for the xbox if something does go wrong.
If you go for a PS3 make sure you get a 60gb model they seem to stand up better to overheating as the 80's/40's have a terrible design inside.

You cant format a xbox drive in a p.c normaly for it to work. You have to flash the hdd with a certain bin file depending on size of hdd i.e 20/60/120/250/320gb and it has to be a certain make and model to work (not straight forward).
For all out gaming i would go xbox.

The older (phat) xbox should never be stood on its side when being played anyway, Its that side it takes in cold air to cool the gpu/cpu.
Xbox for me any day of the week, i own a PS3 slim as well which is only used for streaming lovefilm in a spare room, the PS3 has jammed up three times this week, more than the Xbox has all year! Plus PS3 seems to have constant console and games updates that take forever.
Plus I think the whole Xbox experience is just better, especially if you want to actually talk to your friends.

Interesting.
I cooked my 60gb, new laser within a year, YLoD in the 3rd year, so I bought a Slim, now the HDMI port on my telly is playing up so I'm not getting any signal from my PS3 to telly.
If I'd of saved the £460 from the 60bg, and £230 from the Slim, I'd have a reasonable gaming PC

It depends on your mates if you are going to play online with them. I have both had the ps3 for 4 years now and I have hammered it at times doing 14 hour sessions on it (I'm sad I know). It has never done me wrong the Xbox I use it for watching tv and films on mainly. Think about what games your going to play and who with and go from there really.
