I work in a console repair shop and we see alot more PS3's for repair than 360's just to contradict what everyone says. Also there are alot more faults with the PS3's that render them beyond repair. Also the slim's are prone to power pack failure and they are over £50 to change.
Also it is very easy to upgrade the HDD size on an xbox too just a simple format on your computer and put it into the caddy and away you go.
Oh and parts are cheaper for the xbox if something does go wrong.
If you go for a PS3 make sure you get a 60gb model they seem to stand up better to overheating as the 80's/40's have a terrible design inside.

I cooked my 60gb, new laser within a year, YLoD in the 3rd year, so I bought a Slim, now the HDMI port on my telly is playing up so I'm not getting any signal from my PS3 to telly.
If I'd of saved the £460 from the 60bg, and £230 from the Slim, I'd have a reasonable gaming PC
