win 7 not reconising 4gig ram
hello all ive got a win 7 32bit ultimate, bought 4 gig of kingston Hyperx ram 4x 1 gig matched, my mobo is Asrock 939 duel sata, put the 4x 1gig in and it only shows up as 2gig? i thought 32bit max was 4gig? any help guys

so the question is , does it only use 2gig of the 4 gig or is it that it only tells you that ther is 2gig? and microsoft say win 7 ultimate should show 4 gig max?

the 4gb limit includes graphics aswell, so if you have a 1gb graphics card be it either onboard or via a card, you drop yourself down to 3gb even if you have 4gb pysically in the machine.
iv seen boxes with 256mb onboard with 4gb pysically in them only show 2 / 2.25 usable. usually this is down the the hardware not utilising the full 4gb allowed

thanks mate, ive just took 2 gig out and now im on 2 gig duel memory and what a diffrence!! so it looks like 2gig in duel channel is faster then 4gig in non duel channel

yeh anything dual over single is generally faster tbh, if you can find that option in the bios then you will probably be able to run 4gb dual channel it just wont show up the full 4 in windows
