Not sure why you are only seeing 2gig, onboard graphics can affect the reading I think but not by that much.

so the question is , does it only use 2gig of the 4 gig or is it that it only tells you that ther is 2gig? and microsoft say win 7 ultimate should show 4 gig max?

thanks

Win 7 ultimate (32-Bit) will only show 3.25gb as stated above. 64-bit OS will show it all.

the 4gb limit includes graphics aswell, so if you have a 1gb graphics card be it either onboard or via a card, you drop yourself down to 3gb even if you have 4gb pysically in the machine.

iv seen boxes with 256mb onboard with 4gb pysically in them only show 2 / 2.25 usable. usually this is down the the hardware not utilising the full 4gb allowed

yeh anything dual over single is generally faster tbh, if you can find that option in the bios then you will probably be able to run 4gb dual channel it just wont show up the full 4 in windows
