Default firewall ZONEALARM OR SYGATE free versions

i updated zonealarm on friday

and then the problems started to happen

online games would not connect battlefield 2

so i uninstalled zone alarm then tried to reinstall it

bastard wont have it at all

ZPY.DLL was not found error

this has happend to me once before ...and took ages cleaning out the registry to get it to reinstall

so ive download the free version of sygate and it seems ok

http://www.simtel.net/product.downlo...s.php?id=53687

actually it seems better than zonealarm

does anybody on here use it "pondering"

my mate who is well into pcs and firewalls is on holiday for 3 weeks so i carnt get him to fix it for a while

will it be ok to use sygate for online games ????????????

Think sygate is ok, as ok as i free firewall will go anyway

personally i use zonealarm pro, its like fort knox and so many options, even a "game mode" where by it makes sure you dont get any messages from blocked intrusions etc

cant you just backup everything and just re-format your pc? at least then you can be sure all the shitty files are gone and you can start a fresh
Also have you tried using system restore to restore the pc back to an earlier date when everthing was working?

I agree with that

Software firewall's are ok, running 2 is probably the safest way of protecting your pc from intrusions
