Default Screen Help

I have been having problems with lines etc and the pc turning off saying error on NV4_disp driver which is the graphics card on the screen so found out the graphics card is to fault for the lines, updated the drivers but still had same problem with screen turing off with that error. It was in the AGP slot.

The problem is the orignal graphics card broke after two years stopped working competely, then put another one in and its broke a few months later with the above problem. So thought the AGP slot might be fautly damaging the cards.

The local computer shop put in an old PCI graphics card for me to try out and see it it goes ok meaning the AGP slot ir at fault or just by chance the two graphics cards.

The question is, the screen isnt very sharp with the PCI card, is this just because its an old card and is crap or can it be adjusted?

Thanks
