Hi, I just installed my copy of Vista beta 2, for those that are interested here are some screen shots. If you want the beta go to www.microsoft.com and download it. It is 3gb in size and must be burnt to a DVD. I would only recommend installing this on a test setup as you could have driver and software issues.

These are the std issue desktop themes and icons.

I downloaded the 64 bit version yesterday in just over an hour
Installed in on a 60 gig spare drive, wouldn't install my sound card, nor my maxtore pci/ide controller, so will install it on virtual pc
Looks cool as fuck though

Dan, it done the same on me with my sound card and sata raid controller, I just used the Windows XP drivers and they seem to work ok. Could be worth a shot.
All versions are available free of charge from Microsofts web site. No point in downloading a dodgy copy.

Right just had a look on the download site from microsoft and something that caught my eye was this:
In addition, once you install Windows Vista Beta 2 (or RC1) you cannot roll back to the previous operating system installation—you will either have to acquire and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a previous edition of Windows.
So basically if it fucks up or your getting too many issues you cant do anything unless you wait for the final vista realease or you must have an xp disc? is that what its saying? if so then your screwed if you dont have an xp disc

Basically you have two options. Buy Windows Vista retail and run an upgrade installation or when the trial ends. Format and re-install any OS of your choice.
Thats why I installed Vista on a spare HD I have, meaning I can just plug my XP system in when needed.

Had beta 2 on a test machine at work all week, just playing about with it, as you say I'd not put it in a live environment.....
It took just shy of 7GB to install, a fair size then!
Also downloaded the Office 2007 Beta 2, which just like Vista and XP, looks like a glorified version of Office 2003....I've got plenty of testing to do, but I think it's safe to say we wont be upgrading to it next year...

I normally use a program called Connectix Virtual PC but it didn't like vista, so I downloaded the trial of Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 from Microsoft purely for the testing purposes of Vista
