Question MK2 Fiesta engine transplant. Advice needed!

I need to put a new engine in my MK2 (1986) Fiesta 'cause she's starting to die big time. I'm thinking about dropping a zetec in her but need some advice as to what this involves regarding the electronics, wiring, brakes etc. Ie. Do I need an ECU, for example?

Has anyone undertaken a similar project? Does anyone have a recommendation of which engine to put in her? I don't need super super performance, but would like a bit of oomf.

Thanks

not much info there really lads, id stick with an 1800 zetec as its by far the easiest conversion, u will need an engine and ancilleries, a pre pat ecu, wiring is easy only 5 or 6 wires iirc, u will need some sort of inline fuel pump, and the top engine mount modified, none are hard to do so id say thats the best route

thanx

i've just done a 1.8 zetec conversion in my mk2 fiesta its very easy. Engine mount needs doing or you could do what i done....get your standard fiiesta ohv engine mount and you will see a bolt that holds 2 parts of the engine mount together undo the bolt, do the same thing with a mk5 escort engine mount and bolt the engine part of the escort mount to the body part of the fiesta mountThe engine will then bolt into the bay with fiesta 4 speed gearbox or maybe xr2 5 speed.. you could run it on bike carbs which isn't very expensive i paid 300 for my bike carbs and inlet manifold with all hoses and clips on ebay...you then need an esc module from mk4 escort on carburettors and use this for your spark. You can use your fiesta driveshafts. Quite easy and if u need more info pm me..
Hope this helps,

Andy
