will prob bolt in as a straight swap but will need the 1400 ecu to run it. also some 1600's had maf's and some didn't, dont know about the 1400's.

no point in putting the 1400 i any way mate as the 1600 is under powered enough, the 1400 is a waste of time for ford making it in the first place!!

there must be hundreds of 1600's availible in breakers yards mate. especially near you. if not try asm autos, their actually down near me or theres car transplants in nantwich which is closer to you.

http://www.asm-autos.co.uk
http://www.car-transplants.co.uk

make sure it comes with warrenty too mate. it should do from those two places but best check.

i'm no expert mate but the map in the 1600 ecu will be for the 1600 and therefore will be wrong for the 1400 which could cause problems for the 1400 depending on how different it is.

also, you WILL feel you've ruined the car by sticking the 1400 in as honestly mate it barely moves the car!

here are thousands of the 1600 in use and hundreds in scrap yards and salvage yards. theres plenty of 1600 foci hat get written off every week so just get a 1600 from a salvage yard with warrenty. will be a straighforward swap wth no hassle.

not a prob mate, even the simplest engine cnversion seems to hit snags and my worst fear is the map not being right for the 1400 and that eventually getting destroyed and you being back where you are now having to fork out for another engine.

good luck, try the two places i posted up above or any other breakers yards close by

do you mean the silver top one in the fiesta?

zetec S and zetec SE are completely different engines but the mk1 focus 1.6 is a zetec SE.

personally due to revisions in design i'd get one out of a similar year focus to yours and if yours is a black top zetec se then get one of them.

should be able to put your parts on that engine and drop it straight in.

theres another recent thread on here about the fiesta and interchangability between the black top and silver top 1.6 zetec se engines. turns out they are as one person posted up he'd fitted a silvertop engine in after his black top blew up.

anything thats different bolt on wise will be different because its out of a fez so mounts and manifolds you will prob have to use off your car. check the anciliaries are the same too like power steering pump, etc and in the same place. if they are then you can just swap i would have thought.

The silver top zetec-s engine and black top zetec-se engines are the same, I swapped a silver top for a black top a few years back, used the silver tops wiring loom as it had a MAF and the black top didn't.

it's the zetec-E which is different to the S/SE.

Did it years ago with my original 1.4

The engine fits fine, 1.4 driveshafts and manifold fits without issues and it will run on the 1.4 management without issues.

Easiest conversion ever, but not much more poke

i've driven 1.6, 1.8 and currently have a ligtly modded 2l.

the 1.6 was pathetic for the roads round my way. country roads, bit hilly. my 145-150bhp 2l doesnt struggle at all where as the 1.6 did ALL the time.

i also like having the 2l for ease of overtaking...the less time spent on the wrong side of the road the better and safer the overtake!
