I paid the same as Chris did with lepsons and it's a top job.! Spit and Polish worked out about 20/30 quid more.

Place I got mine done stripped down the wheel, blasted, refurb, powdercoated base and clear, tyres back on, new valves, balanced for £47 a wheel on a 16" but they knocked off £50 when I liked their facebook page.

I've recently been looking at getting 18" wheels refurbed with center caps and if you have them a standard silver colour I was getting prices around £180.
Powder coating in a different shade or colour I was getting quotes around £220.

It doesn't take long to powder coat a wheel mate. Blasting it is the most time consuming. If you arrange it properly then they could probably do it in a couple of hours - depending on their service attitude that is!

anyone down south do it?

preferably near to heathrow airport that can do a "while you wait" service?

that also comes recommended rather than "these guys have a shop i drive past every day" types

Really depends on quality of prep and coating and also on your location. IVE heard of peeps getting wheels done to a pretty good standard for £30 each in brum

Can of worms right there.

I looked into it a lot before I got mine done. Most of the stories I read on forums were wheels failing on the track. However, the vast majority showed the cracks or completely destroyed wheels but didn't say how it had happened.

A fair few where also 10+ year old stock wheels that had been powder coated.

The general vibe I picked up seems to be that alloy wheels are not baked at a high enough temperature or long enough to to any damage with a fair few testimonials from race teams etc. Plus many aftermarket wheel companies use powdercoat.

Maybe a bit late but going to say it for anyone else that might be searching

The wheel specialist - St Albans
http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/...ons/st-albans/

Did a fantastic job on mine while I waited, It did take all day but most of the time was removing existing Pcoating and waiting for a set of tyres to turn up.
17",Charcoal/Anthracite, Full refurbishment £65

also

JP polishing - canvey island
http://www.essexalloywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/

Did some alloy welding for me £40 but he can't do it while you wait.
