Can of worms right there.

I looked into it a lot before I got mine done. Most of the stories I read on forums were wheels failing on the track. However, the vast majority showed the cracks or completely destroyed wheels but didn't say how it had happened.

A fair few where also 10+ year old stock wheels that had been powder coated.

The general vibe I picked up seems to be that alloy wheels are not baked at a high enough temperature or long enough to to any damage with a fair few testimonials from race teams etc. Plus many aftermarket wheel companies use powdercoat.
