anyone know how much power these boxes can safely take b4 they go
bang.any advise appreciated cheers.

 

Standard or modified ?

Standard ones seem to struggle above 200 if they are driven hard.

 

hmm i reckon its a grey area cos ive got a standard box that has been running 220bhp for 4 years and still ok

then ive got a 170 bhp turbo thats just fucked up a gearbox so sometimes you can get a good standard box and sometimes u don't

but my others handling 220 bhp

To put a definate figure on it is totally impossible - the 200bhp figure was just a total stab in the dark guess, as he requested a figure.

Of course your going to get some that can cope and some that can't.

Same as you get some that run decent grippy tyres and some that run knackered old second hand ones, some that are driven hard and some that are not, cars that give big boost spikes and some that don't etc etc.

Its torque that generally kills them not Bhp

 

thanks for your feedback guys.at the mo i have 155 bhp on a normally aspirated 1.9 cvh in a mk 2 xr2(single carb)(standard xr box almost dead)but am getting motorbike carbs by boggs bros this summer.this will take me to around 180 so think i will go with the standard rs box.need a good used one though(no crap),if any one knows of one .
