Default Stage 3 4x4 ? What chip do I actually have fitted ?

A friend bought the basic stg 3 upgrade, -31, 3 bar, 803's air filter etc.

Car ran fine, 20psi, and performed ok, with the std turbo.

Car now has a T34, and RS500 intercooler fitted.

Now the place that supplied the chip, Woodford, claim that same chip is fine for a T34 + RS500 IC as well

IMO thats highly unlikely.

The chip has these numbers marked on it.

3BL8R25.803

Can anyone tell me what spec that is actually intended for ?

The LM-1 wideband I was using to test, is f**ked up, and locks out after it reads "too rich" when it comes on boost. Normal driving it works fine

That is possible, as at 20psi with new turbo and IC, the car is going pretty slow.
Although if the original chip was correct, I'd expect it to be lean now with the T34, although I dont trust the LM-1's readings.
Not prepared to abuse the car until I know for sure what the mixtures are, but at the minute, something is very wrong. It should not be this slow.

Hi,

3BL8R25.803

3B = 3 bars (MAP)
L8 = ECU L8
R25 = I think Waste gate ref, not sure, or 25 psi TC pressure
803 = green injectors

Regards.

Thanks,

25psi with what turbo ?

25psi with a std T3, is not going to be the same as 25psi with say a GT30.

Extreme example I know, but Woodford say that that chip is fine for a std T3, and a T34.

The guy who owns it also phoned PJ, and they pretty much said the same.

How can that be possible ? It makes no sense.

The 2 turbos will fow different amounts of air, even at the same boost pressure, so one chip cannot do both, as MAP is the main load reference.

both places suply ahmed chips on pectel boards... his off the shelf stuff is quite safe and does use quite a large safety margin wrt fueling...

best bet would be to get it up to MSD and see what it is actaully doing

Supplying a performance chip that runs a huge safety margin with fuelling seems almost pointless.

Looks like a proper management system is on the cards soon.

or have it custom mapped or a chip that was written with the mix and match of components to start with...

The only way it will be custom mapped, is by me if I fit an aftermarket management system to it.

There is no mix and match of components. It is a pretty basic and common batch of upgrades, so the chip supplied should work very well.

It doesnt IMO.

any off the shelf chip will be a comprimise and wont e the optimum for any/all of the components/condition of engine etc -

many specialist will have different off the shelf ships for sifferent base specs, then have the boost and fuellnig checked while actually driving it witha wideband probe of the pipe
