Default T28 BOOST PROBLEM

My cossie is running hardly any boost at all.
On standard boost gauge can only get it to just past large segment (not sure what boost that is) and car just feels dead at that point.
I have tried a different actuator which i believed to be standard and boost was less. The one on the car felt stronger which i have now put back on.
I have tried running with pipe from actuator disconnected (briefly) to see if elekron valve was problem and boost was marginally better but still not good.
I have since fitted a GGR chip and car feels a bit better at low revs but still same max boost level.

Any ideas what else it might?

I,m thinking turbo not holding boost but its doesn't smoke use any oil at all. Theres some side to side play on shaft but no in/out movement.

Thanx in advance

The turbo may be generating boost but being leaked off somewhere. Check for split hoses.

As suggested, it will be the dump valve in 90% of cases.

These damn DIAPHRAM dump valves are kak but they sound nice - get it repaired, replaced, blocked or best still, get a piston type!

Have you adjusted the actuator to let the car boost more? When my car was chipped i had to remove the amal valve and set the actuator.

Do u mean standard dump valve causes this problem if faulty or just aftermarket ones if fitted?

Both... but the standard one failing is more common TBH.

Easy..
Put a pipe onto it, and suck.

If you can suck air through it, its knackered
