Default series 1 running problem

my series 1 turbo has a problem, when i switch the car off and take the key out the battery light stays on, when driving the car it goes along fine until i turn an electric on and the car backfires, also if i run it on boost it splutters and backfires, any ideas?

Yep ... the voltage regulator part of it.
