Default FRST management realy pissing me off , any ideas????

Failed to qualify for totb due to the car holding back , on throttle / load


even static if u pull the throttle open id just wont rev , trys to climb but wont ,

if u start the car from cold its fine for a couple of minutes but as soon as its up to temp the problem occurs

Have changed the leads , plugs , coil pack and map sensor ,

cant see it being the CPS and have over earthed the eng so a bad ground isnt to prob

im thinking some sort of temp sensor has gone down due to the prob being very bad once the engine is up to temp .

any ideas peeps ??????

what about EDIS module ?????

or anything else that may break down when the revs pick up ,

when driving u can bearly get it to move , 2500-3000 rmp absolute max and it jumps all over the place , i wouldnt call it a miss fire , ?????????????????????????????????????/

HI,
Try the cts, as the ecu uses this for main correction to ignition timing and
injection time. as engine temp changes.

First place to start is to get a code reader on it and see if it's stored any errors.

Dave , excuse my ignorance but what a CTS , i have just woken up ( In my defence )

AS for a code reader , can u delete stored memory with these ???? i seem to rember my mate having his map sensor / boost memory deleted/set to zero.

Yes, CTS = coolant temperature sensor.

Some code readers can erase error codes but if there is a problem with a sensor (or something else) that's throwing up the error then it'll be back. Using a code reader could save fruitless hours (and money) swappping good components if the ecu is showing whats at fault.

im having troubles with my zetec and it souns simular but ive replaced everything even the loom!!

No mate , not had a proper look yet , i think it may be a wireing fault ,

A friend just got his sorted with a similar problem , turned out to be a wire fault between map sensor and charge temp ,

I had a loo the other day with a lamda sensor on , when i push the throttle wide open so it cuts out ( making the fault appear) all the fuel dissapears ,

this would explain why the car wont drive or take any load but fook knows what's making it do it ,

Again Wiring i think ??????????????????????????

OE managements are a pain in the arse to troubleshoot because you don't have a datalog to see, or the possibility to monitor the managent with a laptop. I have honestly never ever undestood why people convert to cossie management or EEC-IV. Efi is nice, but why not do it properly? Sorry for expressing my opinion...

The eec-iv is a powerful bit of kit and the level of detail they go into on the software side is impressive. The self diagnostic routines are far better than any aftermarket ones I've seen, eg how many aftermarket ecu's allow a wiggle test?. What happens is that when people get a problem they don't put a code reader on the ecu which often pin points the problem. Just my opinion

I agree that the EEC-IV is a powerfull management, but is the diagnostic software available for everyone? Downside is also that it requires an airflowmeter and the Ford's own MAP, (I suppose?).

mate thats far too complex for me.
isnt there an easier description for the amuteres like myself?
my cvh efi set up has a problem with running so how do i check that?

Gunson and Draper both do cheap (under Ł20) LED testers. Never used either though, but I can't imagine the're too hard to use.

i think ill be poping into halfords at the weekend to pick upone of those plug in fault readers ,

with a bit of luck itll show ( or narrow down ) the fault and save me hours of dicking around.

I know that some faults they trow up are ford only so your sill o wiser , worth a shot tho .

Have a look at ebay, you see them coming up cheap on there. You also find the likes of Crypton ACT and the equivalent Sykes Pickavant and Facom units going for about Ł35-50 second hand, these have LCD displays and tell you what the code number means at the end of the test.

Lee, give Kenny a ring mate at msd, i know he mapped it for you and hes shit hot on that managment, when ive had probs with mine ive spoke to him and hes allways pointed me in right direction.

doesnt require air flow mter on frst EEC-IV.

Problem sorted ,

tried a few continuity tests on the wires for the tps , map sensor and air charge temp sensor ,

the signal wire from the MAP sensor to the ECU ( pin 45 ) had gone down , replaced it and hey presto , new car .

good news that it was that sinple , but bad news that it decided to go down on my TOTB qualifying day ,


Trtack day for next month booked , then itll be layed up ready for the Daddy thrash in january , then broken to build my S1 .

Why do we bother ?????????????
