as titled, havent had a proper look yet as it was dark last night but my wifes M reg mk6 escort xr3i has now got thios problem, the reverse lights dont work, nor does the heater blower fan, indercator ( hazards work) and the electric windows have all stopped working.

ive looked at the fuse's and there all find, cant seem to see any problems with any relays, i got spares but not all of them, is the big tall yellow relay any thing to do with it? scrappy havent even got any in.

i think its a wiring prob, gunn have a l;ook this afternoon when shes home but has anyone had this and can tell me what it is save me wasting time checking things that dont need checking.

i know all the switchs , bulbs etc are fine cos it just stopped working 9pm last night

its the fuse box mate.
they always go.
it was a design fault, buy a good secong hand one for about Ł40
if the part number starts 91 then i have 3 of these

 

alright mate, yeah its the fuse box, done the process today and narrowed it down to relay or fuse box, after 2 different relays still fook all so gunna go up scrappy and fingers crossed get one that is right for the car.
as for part number, i did write it down but left the paper in the car so cant say if it starts with 91.

what cars have the fuse boxes you got come from mate? date on wifes fuse box is 1994

i took mine out of my esc cos to a mate whos an auto electician,he resoldered all the dodgy joints in a matter of minutes,no point buying a new one,hes done over 200 of these! common prob on all escorts,one of my joints was cracked and another had started to melt the solder

 

this is exactly what i thought would be the problem with the fuse box.

done a process of illimation anyway cos its stated messing about when trying to start it, dont start first time anymore, must of been something i done while messing about.

was the problem spotted easy mate? or was it tested with a meter first?

gunna pull box out later/tomorrow and have a look

 

once the box is out if you unclip the covers and remove the circuit board you should be able to see any dodgy looking joints if you look closely,or you could always check with a magnifying glass

 

wifes orders, i have to get a spare from scrappy, i wanna fix it and will do once its out and keep it as a spare, or put it back in and keep other as spare but will have a good gander.

 

got a spare from scrappy, got most stuff working but not all, windows still dont work nor does blower but it came out of a lower spec escort but was best they had down there so will do for now.

theres a few connections that loock a bit dodgy in the box but checking with a meter they seem ok but gunna resolder them anyway.

thing is, i can get inside the box, as in between the 2 boards, so if theres a problem in there im fairly stuck

anyway, fingers crossed but im not holding my breath.

anyone got a fuse box that works for sale at a reasonable price? if so give us the part number so i can make sure its the right one.
( also have a post in wanted)
