you could do it this way and its much easier,go to the fan switch on the side of the rad,on the connector there will be either one or two brown wires (earth) and another colour wire(not sure of the colour) which be should be a permanant live.simply splice into the permanant live wire and run the spliced in wire to a switch on your dash then earth the other side of the switch,
all you are doing is manually earthing the rad switch, you should have one fan opperate with ignition off and both fans with ignition on,although this may not always be the case

the fan relays are drive the fans are switched buy the rad fan temp switch, the rad temp switch gets a constant live and only earths when the rad temp reaches a certin level,
one of the fan relays switching supply is a constant live and the other only when the ignition is on,thats why only one drives with the ignition off,
hope that is some help

the best way is to use the rad fan switch to drive relays to power each fan,
i know its a bit of extra cost but if you want the fans on constantly it has been known for the fuse holder to melt in the fuse box.
the rad temp switch is negative switched btw

Right lads my car already has a relay down there near fans behind passenger headlight area
It has 2 red wires coming in 1 from batt and one goes into my car/dashboard
then on the other side of the relay theres a black which goes to earth and another red which goes down to fan connector
is this what yous are talking about lads
and what do yous think the red wire going into dash does
need to trace it actually
