My brother has his st225 broken. A plastic y piece snapped and he lost all his coolant. So replaced the coolant hose.
Too find out it spews out the coolant after 2 minutes of running.....
I didn't do a compression test or a leak down test as it was pretty useless. Pulled the head and couldn't see any damage on there. Checked the gasket couldn't really see damage on there.
On first sight could not see anything on the block itself. but on second sight there was a crack in the aluminum on cylinder 4 that was also the cylinder that was the cleanest. Got the head tested and it was warped and exposed to alot of heat.
I don't know if anyone experencied this and if its fixable? its always a guess with these situations but some experience and info would really be appreciated!
There is a block mod which does alot for the strength of the block. But can that save the block? the head is reparable, but got my doubts about the block(as far as i can see the liner is not cracked only the aluminium)
Any help, info and things to check is very appreciated!
The block mod shims would have likely prevented this but its a bit late now. Everything is fixable but imagine you'd have to take the liner out, to asses/repair then refit a new liner. Would be cheaper to source a second block IMO
