Default Lead acid battery info please

Hello folks,

im trying to rejuvenate a battery and could do with a little advice please. I have a couple of battery's on long term storage, I have been cycling them every couple of moths or so but the one I want to use is not having it . I have 10v overall with about 8v closet to the positive post working towards the neg post the individual voltages are getting less to the point where the two closest to the neg post a .4v and .3v respectively .

So I decided to put a bulb on across it until the battery was nearly flat and then put it on a trickle charge but what's happening now is the 4 cells working away from the positive post are bubbling gently, but the two that had .4/.3v are doing nothing. This obviously the problem but what can a do to get them back ? There's plenty of stuff about tipping some epon salts into cells on YouTube but dose it really work ? Or should I continue to cycle the battery in the hope it desulphate and come back ?

As ever your thoughts would be appreicited

You can get various chargers that claim to recover dead batteries.

They may work, they may do some batteries. But if a battery is fucked, it's fucked.

I wouldn't want to rely on a battery I'd managed to coax back into life.

Nothing to do to get it back unfortunately. I work on access equipment with lead acid batteries, once the voltage drops that low they are scrap. They can even get reverse polarity. Leisure batteries can generally be recovered but a normal car battery won't have it!

Lead acid are not deep cycle battery's, i.e. they are not designed/will cause damage by draining and recharging them as you have.

You should buy a trickle charger/conditioner for this, these work the battery and compensate for internal discharge/parasitic draw and prevent sulfation of the plates.

As said your just wasting your time, is there any reason why you can't simply buy another?
