Default EFI conversion probs ( few Questions )

Hi Chaps ,

well the 2.1 is in and running as you all know ,

But she is way way way overfueling , black smoke commin out of the zorst and is gassin me out the workshop .

Basicly i have used a Xr3i full car loom ( efi) and converted it to FRST spec usin rag tops conversion notes . http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showth...threadid=37369

These are

ECU pin changes Pin 27 ( brown) move to pin 8 , for the c/o signal wire ?
Pin 45 (brown/yellow) move to, 27 for the MAP sensor ?

Remove pin 2 ( blue/yellow) in the EDIS module ??

For those in the know are these correct ??

as i said the car runs , a bit rough but think this is due to fueling

Timin has been quadrouple checked , tried a new ECU , c/o adjuster
map sensor and various other sensors just incase these are at fault .

The c/o doesnt seem to be adjustable at all so this leads me to think its a wiring fault .

Fuel pressure has been se and i have a permenent gusge so id know if anything was wrong ,

have lowered the pressure ( naughty i know ) and it makes the engine run a lot smoother

When u open the throttle it just dies , cuts out , again it leads to over fueling .

Any ideas ???????????????????????????/

Short of taking it to have all the wiring checked out .

Does any one have a ESCORT EFI wiring diagram as the haynes only shows one for the fiestas and not the escorts ?????

Thanks in advnce .

Did you change the Air charge temp sensor to a FRST spec one?
Mine was running way too rich until I found out the sensor was different.

Yeah mate changed that .

Spoke to Kenny and he said i had changed to many wires ,

running a lot beter now . still slightly rich as it boggs down when u rev it.

does anyone know the set up procedure for FRST .

she idles at about 1100-1200RPM ,

have set it to 650 with the idle speed controle valve unpluged but when i plug it back in the revs jump back up .

have checked for air leaks and cant find nowt .

Lee
was looking at what you had changed and it seemed like too many wires compared to when i did mine.
tape up pin on edis
move one pin on ecu and wire in i think pin 28 for boost control.
glad youve sorted it out.
thanks

as i mentioned in my mail to you it would be great if u could confirm the exact pin changes ,

I dont know what u mean about pin 28 ?? im not gonn run a amal valve to controle the boost , just run it primative ,

what u recon ???

Lee, ive read on FT.com, a few people had some troubles when they swapped the wires over, changed it back to how the XR loom was, ie, completely untouched, and it worked fine? Might be worth a shot!

Get her mapped dude

Thanks phill ,

when i spoke to kenny he asked what the ECU number was when it was a XR ,

i guess that there may have been a few varients .

as i didnt know he said to put the loom back to standard and to only move pin 27 to pin 8 , its a brown wire , surposidly for the co signal wire ??

now that u have mentioned it tho i have no adjustment for c/o at all , so will put that back to standard and see what happens .

i cant see how there has been so much confusion with these looms , surley the first couple of people to convert them would have sussed the correct pin changes , ( if any ) and spread the word ??????????????/

well get there ,

Bled the breaks through today and only have a very slight break , new servo is needed i think

Start running in this week fingers crossed ,

Couple o piccys for ya

Lee
as promised the wiring that i did on mine
it prevoiusly had a 1afa ecu if i remember rightly.

ok
edis pin2 b/y wire remove and tape up

boost control need bn/gn wire from ecu pin 33 to boost control solenoid
other side of solenoid bn wire to earth.

c/o signal bn wire can either be on ecu pin 8 or 27 mine was allready on pin 8 so thats where i left it.

by the way my ofac ecu is the series2 one ( hence reason why superchip would cut my boost at 15psi)
hth mate
thanks

Thanks Dave ,

Thats what ive done so all the wiring should be spot on now .

1AFA , yep think that was what was on mine to .

Have removed the blue yellow wire from the edis module , ( what does that do anyway ?????????????????? )

Not gonna run the amal valve ( boost control ) as i said erlier so will leave that out , just gonna controle boost from the compressor housing .

I have one redy to go in should i need it .

whats this about a series 2 ofac ecu ?? and a super chip ??

confused me now ,

apparently ford made 2 versions of the ofac ecu and reversed some sensor input on it (cant remember ask Stu or Kenny) but when superchips did there 195 chip it was on the version 1 but as mine was version 2 the 195 chip doesnt work correctly and superchips never cracked it hence my boost used to cut violently at 15 psi when it shouldnt of done.
hth
thanks
