ZVH cold starting problems
hi,
what could be causing a ZVH to start like a bag of sh!t in the mornings...
it idles about 400 rpm for about 10 minutes, then after gentle revving and warming up the revs get higher to about normal of 1000-1100rrpm...
is it misfiring ? or running on 2 or 3 cylinders
why is this happening everytime ? its only after its cooled right down, like overnight etc....
can some help! thanks!

My old S1 was the same, wouldn't hold it's own when cold and would miss, I found that if you started it without touching the gas pedal it would start better, but as said, cold start valve, replace it

the sensor is on the bottom of the inlet manifold, blue plug i think. when its hot & you disconnect the iscv, do the revs drop to about 700rpm? (the base idle setting), also make sure the throttle body is clean,

Thermotime switch. As above said blue in colour, under the inlet manifold. And your correct efi doesnt have a seperate cold start valve like the mfi. Its all ecu controlled.

i would personally just replace it, but it can be tested, ill presume your using fiesta turbo management, at 0 degrees C, it should read 88000-102000 ohms, at 80 deg C, 3000-4500 ohms, this is measured with plug disconnected across the 2 pins, with the plug connected, ignition on & at 0 deg C, you should measure 3.8 volts approx, & at 80 deg C, 0.7 approx these readings are off autodata so sorry if there wrong

E.C.T, engine coolant temp sensor (not sender), i cant say whether it will fix it, but its the first thing i would try, did you try disconnecting the iscv when hot to see if the revs drop? (just to check its working really)
