New to the site so I hope you can help.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to put a 2001 1.6 streetka engine in a 2005/6 Ford Focus? If so, would it be compatible with the Focus gearbox? Anything else we would need to know?

Hi and Welcome. anything is possible with enough work and talent (or money to replace talent) I am not sure about the gearbox but as my dear old Dad used to say "Mr Ford is very clever by making most gearboxes fit most of his engines".....just not sure on the more modern stuff. How plentiful are they over there as here you could buy the bits for nowt and just offer them up to see.


You may want to explore if the blocks and things are similar. Why would you want to put that engine in by the way, there must be millions of Focus engines sitting around in breakers for peanuts and you know they WILL fit as that's where they came from.

No we are not blessed with good breakers yards here and we have tried. It's too expensive to ship one from UK or Germany. But my daughter's streetka is being written off - bodywork issues but engine is fine. So if it can be done it's worth a try!

Sportka engine will not go into a Focus easily and would be expensive and pointelss (90bhp)

Sportka engine into a Ka is easy and actually make a difference.
