Default Engine Spec...

I asked this in General Discussion but probably best in here

I'm planning on having my 4x4 Saphire Cossie engine rebuilt, what parts do you guys think should be used to get about 350 - 380bhp out of it? I've got a standard turbo on the car so might get a T4 or at least a Hybrid, I've got about 6 -7k to spend on it...

The reason I ask is I'm going to be taking my car to Cheshire Prestige & Performance over the weekend for them to have a look and give me a quote so I would like to make some surgestions as what to go for...

any help will be most welcome

6-7k will get you a good 400 conversion

BUT

if i had 6-7k to spend i would save 3k and spend that on brakes/suspension/diff , then spend 4k having a 360hp engine built.

if you go for something along the lines of T34/ .63 , BD14 inlet , light lues , WRC gasket youll have a some fun rather then getting the engine and not doing brakes and suspension then struggling to keep it on the road

Good idea sir, I have a very nice break setup but you are right I should get an engine running 360 and spend the rest on suspention and diffs...

A standard or near standard rebuild will be enough for 350-380 bhp.

I know but I'd sooner have an engine that can do 400bph and back it off to say 350 - 380 so the strain on the engine is not so grate but I have the potential to do big bhp is I need too, or does not not make sence

you will need to have a good gearbox in it then to go over 380 etc.....

Where you from mate.

Do you know John from J.C Motorsport, he can sort all this for you.

Depends on how you want the car to drive.

A standard bottom end can produce 400 bhp.....

You're best bet is to drop it to 7.7/1 compression ratio and either port the head or fit cams and then there is the reliability factor you need to build into it. Best to discuss it all with the engine builder to be honest.
