Focus gear cables
I have a 2002 1.8 TDCi Focus and need to renew the gear selector cables. The part where they pass through the floor is the problem. Can it be done from above, or do I need to drop the exhaust and heat shields.
Do you definatley need to replace the cables?
On my 2.0 focus, I had one of the ends badly worn and a local garage got a new end from Ford.
Otherwise, it would seem like the exhaust and heat shields need to be dropped for better access.

I definitely need to change the cables; one of them has virtually seized and I have tried lubrication but it just seems to get tighter. All the external linkage is free, just the cable that transmits fore/aft movement seized.
