Default Ford Focus Limp mode

Good day to you all,
I own a 2004 Focus 1.8 TDCI 115 BHP and every so often as I drive if the revs drop below 2000 and then I try to put my foot down ie. to overtake someone the heater coil light starts to flash and the engine goes into limp mode until I stop and restart the engine. I have had the cam sensor replace and I have blanked of the EGR valve as recommended from forums that I have read. could anyone offer me advice as its getting a little annoying.
thank you.

Need fault codes checking, does the 'engine malfunction' message come on the centre of the dash?

Simple things to check are, replace fuel filter..

Check the glo-plugs operate, voltage to them and if they draw 15-20 amps each.

Both these simple things can put these cars into limp mode.

As above, get the fault codes read. Could be a hundred things causing the issue, if there is a fault logged in the ECU then the car will tell you what is wrong with it.

As said first thing is to see if there's any fault codes at all,
Also when did this problem start before or after service?
Does the glow plug relay switch off?

hello

i am a noob and i have brought a project maybe a huge mistake but it was cheap
i have read up on this, i have got a ford focus 2003 TDCI 1.8 2003

the turbo has gone i think but i was wanting to get some further info on repairing it

it smokes really bad white smoke i have partially stripped the top end of the engine down as the turbo sits at the back of the engine the outlet of the turbo is spitting out oil

i suspect its just an oil seal but i could be wrong what i would like to know is how do i get the turbo off can it be done from the front engine side or do i have to get underneath it to remove ?

oh and there is no play at all with the spindle as i have stuck my finger in it seems solid

i have ordered a new fuel filter new oil filter new oil engine flush before i attempt to repair the turbo

can anyone direct me or show me how to remove the turbocharger to try and repair

i might be waffling sorry but just need a few pointers

thanks

Andrew
