Default Would it be safe?

I know it sounds silly but will it be safe to lathe the inside alloy wheels to make them lighter? Or will the structure be to weak to handle the car when driving??

step away from the lathe.

You'd have to remove alot of material to make to worth while and the structual intergrity of the wheel will be hugely compromised

I knew it would be dangerous and completely stupid, I just wanted to know what other peoples opinions. It's just, i went pick up some parts from a guy yesterday, and he said he lathed 4kg off per wheel, and the wheels were still on his XR2 (which was stunning) for 5 years. They were replica comps he uses for road use, but he has a genuine set for when he goes to event shows.
