hi lads im after an idea as to what may have happened

2.0 16v cable change box

my mate stopped at a t junction put the car in first gear,then pulled away, then the gear selector went loose and wouldnt select any other gear so he had to drive the car home in first gear,i went around to have a look the next day and the car is stuck in first, i tried to select a gear by moving the cable ends on the gearbox and it moved freely there is no resistance the clutch works fine and as usual



please help as he is now using public transport and it is shit

The roll pin is broken.

You do not need to remove the gearbox, but you do need to remove the selector unit.

It should be possible to obtain a new roll pin.
