XR3i EFI injectors not opening
Have you actually done any logical tests ??
Is the fuel pump running when it should be ? Very simple test. Listen to it ! Or test for 12v power.
If yes, then you could assume it has fuel pressure, but of course it would make sense to actually check.
Are your injectors getting 12v and signal when they should ? Again, simple test. I dont trust noid lights, and a filament type sidelight bulb suggestion is just daft given the short duration of any pulse.
Test with a suitable meter for pulsewidth ( or duty cycle at a push ), but ideally use a scope so you can actually see if it's a regular and consistent pulse at each injector, as well as checking for PW.
Are you getting spark's as expected ?
If you're doing any other tests given you think you've no fuel, your wasting your time.

My mate had the exact same problem, does it just seem like its ran out of fuel bogging it the whole way down the road?
If so, he changed his fuel pump to an uprated one, car runs fine now pushing 200 bhp no problems at all..

All logical tests done - fuel to rail, spark at plugs, all sensors checked, ECU checked, Fuel pump running and switching to position 2, injectors checked with multimeter, and still nothing which is why I think now that maybe there just isn't enough fuel pressure to start it. I will check pressure tomorrow.
Thanks

What pulse width are you seeing at the injectors then when cranking ? and is this mirrored on all 4 injectors ?
Okay - break through - have good fuel pressure so that is not the issue.
Whilst cranking it over today in the hope that she would start (but she didn't) I disconnected the iscv and she fired and ticked over momentarily!! Plugged it back in and nothing. Unplugged her again and she fired again. I could keep her running by feathering the throttle but it was difficult. So the ISCV that I have is the orange type and is mounted on the air box. It is brand new old stock that I bought a while ago so I know it is good and clean. So question is - is that my problem as I understand that they were very unreliable the ones on the airbox. Anyone got any ideas.

It doesn't make any sense, you could do away with the ISCV totally (if so wanted), it is merely a valve that allows air to bypass the throttle. Opening the throttle would achieve the same thing.
Unplugging it means the valve is shut, it is when power is applied it opens to increase the idle speed such as when cold, it may be something really weird like the amount of fueling is really lean (which again points to a lack of fuel) and by closing the valve the mixture ends up richer, which is why it runs for a moment, perhaps.

Wow 13 year old thread revival
my mate has rebuilt a 1991 EFI xr3i thats been off the road since 2003 .
went to fire it up on Monday was a pig to start but eventually was running aided with easy start at the beginning.
this has been a fully engine rebuild as it came with no engine so its been a Nitemare finding correct parts etc
any ways Monday evening it was running although fuel was lean on cylinder 4 so knocked it off and thought we will investigate late.
Came to car next day fired straight up. And ticked over high circa 1800rpm revved up fine off the throttle body
left it ticking over till fan kicked in and engine was sweet for a full rebuilt cvh even cylinder ; was running as when unplugged the injector etc you could hear the engine note change.
knocked it off let it cool down and thought will fit the exhaust as this was all done with just the down pipe on
exhaust fitted went to start was a pig to start eventually ran but poorly started wondering about back pressure etc.
any ways car wont fire now what so ever
exhaust was removed
timing is spot on
there is a spark at plugs
Pump primes you can hear it and the relay clicks
cracked the feed to fuel rail and upon putting ignition on so prime pump buzzes but no fuel ?? Tryed this 4/( times cycling ignition and eventually on 1 cycle some fuel came through ?.
went to crank engine no fuel immediately but then started coming through ??
all new tank
Pump
lines
fuel filter and yes fitted correct way
surely there should be good pressure every time the ignition is cycled to the rail feed.
need to check power to injectors etc but concerned regarding the fuel pressure
its a Loong time since I have played with with xr3i
so any and all advice help greatly appreciated guys
