The back end is a bit different to the Granada/ sierra set up

As for changing the beam on the 4wd, you can change the arms and be beam and keep the other bits as they will all change over

Even if you have a 7.5 inch diff you can fit it in a 7 inch beam by just chopping a bit if the diff casing off

The arms from engine to mounts the BOA/BOB ones are longer than sierra V6 arms (they can be used but it means modifying stuff)

The rear beam is opted through he chassis on a bit of a boxed out section of metal

There is also a big metal plate with 2 more bolts holding that I place to strengthening it all up

But if they get clouted, they can bend as they aren't designed for lateral impacts

I have some bob pistons n rods if u need them if you don't go for an over bore
This could be a much cheaper option mate seeing as the pistons i'm after are 100-120 each and i need six (and i was gonna mod them too, really going out on a limb to make it unique and lighter)...
and rebore of the block was quoted 40 per hole. i could be lookin at a bag of sand. OUCH...
but it is an ambition of mine to work my engines as much as i can without being dangerous about it... i like to know that mines at least as good if not better than standard stuff if you know what i mean... everything is open to modification in my eyes.
If i get stuck man, i'll get back to you but too much time has been spent waiting on this engine to just put standards back in it... i'd feel like a fool for taking it apart in the first place...
still, thankyou for the offer

But they use the same block and mounts as the 12v so unless it's mounted a little higher I'm not sure why they should be a different length

The 4 pot ones are longer and have a different shape to them

Up until last year I had spares of everything. I then decided my old man would be happier if he didn't have to move them every weekend to a new position like he was playing chess so I binned virtually everything

Engine mounting arms.
4x4 V6 arms are short.
BOB and BOA arms are longer and fit the Dohc and cossie 2wd cross member
XR4i arms are different to the others. They are more like 4x4 arms.

Wait a sec!!!
excuse my ignorance here but wasnt the BOA and BOB block, basically speaking, a refashioned 2.8 cologne block? (re-stroked with better heads on top)
so therefore shouldnt all the sierra and granada/scorpio v6 engines have the same length mounting arms?

i think i just worked it out
the distance between the engine mounting points has to be the same for all the cars (sierras and granadas and scorpios) because they all have the common engine installed.
But as said earlier theres a difference between gearbox input shaft lengths and flywheel thicknesses... suggesting that some of the variants were mounted further forward or backward because of ancilleries and heads etc... could this be - just a varying degree of angle on the arms, making them no wider at all when on the car but, indeed longer when measured in length with a ruler???
or am i talkin out of my gluteous maximus?

SO... are the mount bushes completely different for the the 4i and the others?
cos theres a clear difference in width if you put them on a cologne block... so how do they all meet up with the inner wing?

Engine crossmembers are all different so bolt holes are all slightly out, so you can use BOB/BOA arms but with BOB/BOA engine crossmember, XR4i/XR4x4i arms with XR4i/XR4x4i engine crossmember and so on but you cant mix and match

Im with ya... cos the bob is used in 2wd format, it should fit the mounting points of a 2wd sierra, not to be confused with 4i or 4x4 formats. job jobbed

The 4wd stuff is totally different so that would explain why nothing fitted

As for the blocks, the 24v is based on the 12 2.9 block

Even if you have a 7.5 inch diff you can fit it in a 7 inch beam by just chopping a bit if the diff casing off

i like the sound of that

the diffs will fit if you remove about half an inch from one of the bolt casing holes, it's not there for anything other than making the diff mounting points fit into the wider beam without the need to modify the diff casing on the smaller diff's

No it has a gear stick fitted to the top of the case unlike the rear remote on the sierra. The 6 speed box has the rear remote but doubtful the internals will fit the 4x4 box front case
