hi guys,

looking into swapping over my standard mk1.5 lamps with the st170 xenons. now i understand that you need washers ect to pass the MOT but is it 'easy' to do? do i need extra wiring; if so what?

you dont need washers if xenons wernt fitted as standard. my RS passes with them every year.

for the rs i had to change some internal wiring, but unsure if you will need to do the same, i can dig the diagram out if you need it.

all you need is the headlights, bulbs, ballasts, and ignitors.

does the 1.5 have indicators in the headlights? or down on the bumper?

because the FRS's are down on the bumper you might have issues.

 

sorry for the late reply, but the MK1.5 does have the indicator in the headlamp.
will the wiring differ a lot or?

 

i honestly dont know if the wiring will differ, it might be worth getting an auto electrician to have a look, or you could always follow the diagram and hope,

the FRS has the same high and low beam as a 1.5 but with indicators in the bumpers. there was a german website that tolk you how to do the hole thing, including washer jets and auto levels on the suspension, bt i cant find it any more... sorry i couldnt help more

 

Yea I he thought of that which what I might have to do as a last resort!

Hi friends, I have these st170 xenon headlights to install on my mk1.5, but I don't know what I should modify, (it turns on position, long and blinkers, but the xenon does not) the headlights work. can you help me please

Did you ever manage to get those lights wired up?
If so could you please let me know which wires needed changing, splicing or bridging.
im struggling to find the correct information.
