hi guys sorry if this is in the Wrong place but whilst changing my heater resistor i thought i would try the fan speed before refitting and the resistor got very hot so my question is how hot should it be or have i got another problem thanks

 

The resistor gets hot/ is supposed to get hot - it "resists" the flow of electricity by turning it into heat.

HOW hot? it depends - if smoke comes off it or you can smell burning its probably too hot
