Default Battery terminals fitted wrong way

Hiya

My Sister has a y reg fiesta zetec that her boyfriend fitted the battery with the terminal's the wrong way. put the right battery on and all the ignition light's came on but it would not turn over. If you put a live feed to the starter it spin's over no problems.
Have tried tow starting and no joy.
The ecu has been changed with new matching key just in case that was fried but has made no difference! All the fuses where checked when it 1st happened and seem good.
There was a little red light by the clock that use to come on and go out when vehicle started but that's not lighting up at all now.
If anyone can point me in the right direction where to look next i would be very greatfull.

Thank's Mark
