, when you say it won't start does it turn over? If so then the ECU may possibly be damaged.

Fuse for the ECU in the engine fusebox. PATS light will not be on (in the clock) if this fuse goes.

Did this once with my Clio and a classic mini, melted jump leads by time I realised, someone used wrong colour cables on the mini.

All was fine though.

Doesn't help your case.

Firstoff, give her boyfriend a slap, then chek all fuses, chances are it's just popped one.

what made you want to jump start it in the first place? i ask as you may have done no damage putting the leads the wrong way round it may just be the original fault is still there, have you tried push starting it?

There may not be enough juice in it to do anything else, lights don't really take much to run. Bung another battery on and see if that solves it.

If the pump doesnt sound like it working give the tank a bang underneath, sometimes works sometimes doesn't, use your fist or a bit of wood or something though not a hammer

The fact that the PATS light does not illuminate at all indicates that the ECU is not receiving any ignition feed.

I had this on my Fiesta 1.25 with the Siemens ECU. Started the car up with a low battery level, it ran and moved about 1 foot then stalled. The alternator had spiked (similar to your problem) and shorted the ECU internals which had blown the ignition fuse in the engine bay. Double-check your fuses in the engine bay.

Check fuses behind the glovebox.

Still suspect the ECU myself, you could check power is reaching it?

It's hardly the cars fault though ?

And it is pointless doing anything unless you know you have a fully charged battery

If the ignition lights all come on the dash as normal, then there should be enough power that you would hear the fuel pump prime.
But by connecting the battery wrong, all sorts of damage could have been caused in the vehicle electrics.

How much is the car worth ? And are there any decent auto-sparks near you ?

And are you sure the vehicle isnt immobilised either by a factory system or aftermarket, either of which could have been fried too.

Default Connected jump leads round the wrong way on fiesta 1.25

Just to say that I connected my jump leads round the wrong way and most of the dash lights went out and the car wouldn't start. Turns out that I'd blown the grey 3 amp fuse in the fuse box, replaced and all was well
