Oil change has made my car faster?!?!?
As the title says!!
I bought an 05 Mondeo TDCI the other month. In this time I have.....
De-cat
K&N panel filter
EGR Blanked
Evo-Chips Remap
Today I thought I would give her an oil change and filter. So using Ford 5-30 oil and OE oil filter I did the change. The oil that came out was ok, I have seen a lot worse! Filled her up and then went out for a drive......This may sound crazy but she pulls better, cant understand why this is though, I mean I can understand the above mods especially the remap but just an oil change??!!

I was wondering if it could be a placebo but I am almost 99% sure I have not felt any difference when I have done in oil change in the past. Interesting saying placebo and washing car......I have thought that in the past when I have waxed my car! Although they did a test on how fast they could get an old Merc diesel on 'How it made' some years ago.....The best speed they got to start with was 92mph....Then after a good service 96mph then after a good wash, polish and wax 98mph!

Changing your oil from oild oil to new (identical, apart from being new) oil can make a car smoother, and faster, and seems to rev through the band quicker
the old oil may look ok but (the molecules in) oil breaks down over time and becomes comtaminated etc the original TDCI recommendeded 5k changes
the difference/ significance seems to vary from engine to engine but turbodiesels really seem to benifit from fresh oil, the difference can be surprising and no, its not a placibo effect
is it so hard to believe - fresh oil may have less friction and a fresh oli filter may flow better - reducing parasitic load
