Exclamation 1.8 Problem.....Stumped!!

Hi Guys, I have a problem with my 2000 Focus, its an 1800 LX. A few weeks ago I went for a drive and it was red hot, so I put the air conditioning on, everything was fine.....I got home, parked her up and in the morning went out and there was no air conditioning, no heaters, it wouldnt even blow cold air. Previous to this, the switch would allow air to blow on 1, 2 and 3 but 4 was a little intermittent. I read online that it may be the heater resistor, or the thermal fuse on the heater resistor which is caused by water getting in. I tested the heater resister and all was fine, I pulled the fan heater out, and using a battery and some wire I determined the fan itself was also fine. I have checked all of the fuses and they too, are fine. The jack socket for the fan, and all the wires leading to the switches are fine, and have power going to them so it seems to me like nothing is wrong, there are no problems anywhere that I can detect, yet I still cannot get my heaters to come on. I had toyed with the idea of running a few wires from the battery and putting a switch in and bypassing everything and just flicking the switch once I needed cooling off, but the car has a stupid Clifford Alarm in, which goes off even if you sneeze near the car and plus I didnt want to bodge anything, wanted a proper solution since the car has had £600 spent on it in the past 2 weeks. I am really at a loss here, and have no idea what it could be or what to try, any help that anyone could give me would really be appreciated!!

Many Thanks,
Stuttz!

Have you tested the switch panel itself? It isn't uncommon for these to fail. I'd also sling in a new heater resistor too, they are only a couple of quid.

Which switch panel are you on about mate? The 3 main switches/dials or the black box with the a/c, demister and blower buttons on?

Mine isn't a single unit, it's 3 separate dials! Going to replace all 3 and see if we get anywhere, also going to replace the heater resistor while I'm on

When you take the fascia out you will see it is just one unit. This is what it looks like behind the fascia.

I have that part but mine just has the LEDs in, the dials pull off and the switches are individual units that push in then twist then screw in

Afraid I've got no idea what you mean. I've worked on zillions of focus's, and unless it has climate control with the digital panel then this is the switch unit you will have.

To access this panel, you need to take the radio out, remove the 4 screws you see then pull the panel off with a bit of force. The heater control switch unit screws on to the back of the fascia.

Had one like this in the garage, heaters would not work atall, turned out the plug had melted on the back of the speed dial somehow

I take my radio out, unscrew 4 screws and then the whole fascia comes away, the unit you showed can't be taken off as a whole on mine the dials need to be taken off and then the panel can be taken off, but once it's all together mine looks identical to that one you showed!

On the back of the speed dial? The back of the speedo/clocks? Or the back of the dial that says 1,2,3,4 and varies the power of the blow?

The switch does not vary the speed of the blower, this is the job of the resistor pack, when in position 4 full power is sent to the motor, hence it runs full speed.

Yes he is talking about this switch, and this too is the same place I would be looking as you seemed to have verifed other things, check the switch actually is working.
